Blue Ridge Parkway

A stream is cascading down this rock face next to the road.
There was a plus and minus to our ride today.  The Blue Ridge Parkway would be the greater park of our adventure.  Last night the storms tore through Virginia and North Carolina to the extent that tornados had struck and several people were killed.  Of course we believed that the further west we road the better off we would be.

Once the fog lifted a beautiful outline of the mountains and their brilliant colors.  The clearing gave us hope the the weather would begin to change for the better.

The views and vistas were outstanding.  We took every opportunity to stop and enjoy each moment.  Our visit on the Blue Ridge Parkway would limited to one day.  Then we would follow the river valley below.

The day ended well with the folks at Gurties giving Jerry and Lynne shelter in their garage. Jon and I opted to stay at the Church's  covered picnic area.  Rick a neighbor invited Jon and I to shower at his home.  His lovely wife Wanda and their daughter graciously opened their home to us after a long and treacherous day on the road.

You can't ask for more than that.

We are blessed with Trail Angels as we call them.  Mr. Bud Buhler gave us a ride back up into the Blue Ridge Mountains to our bikes

The mist hung over us and the road was obscured from us and cars
